20 Questions with John Michael Schert

John-Michael Schert is the executive director and a dancer for Trey McIntyre Project in Boise, Idaho. He has formerly danced with Alonzo King’s Lines Ballet and American Ballet Theater.

1. What is your breakfast of choice?
“Gas-house eggs’ also known as ‘eggs in a hole.’ Bite a hole out of a piece of bread, drop an egg in, and fry over butter. Two every morning.”

2. What is your pre-performance ritual?
“Always allow for a process that slows your mind down while speeds your body up. Whether it be company class or your own personal warm up. Know that you will always give yourself the routine that puts you in the right, peaceful, but engaged, place. This will help dispel nervousness as well as let you reach a more intuitive place with your performance.”
